Conky 1.7.2 Released!

As of Monday, Conky 1.7.2 has been officially released!

You can get the files for this release in the usual spot, and there's a feature tour over on the Wiki.

Just a small taster of the new features:

  • Built in Lua bindings for Cairo and Imlib2, which allows you to draw directly to Conky's window using Cairo and/or Imlib2.
  • Added own_window_type panel.
  • $weather: download, parse and display METAR data.
  • $desktop, $desktop_number and $desktop_name: current desktop number and name, total number of available desktops.

Have a go and let us know what you think!

  1. Greetings,

With this version I have following problem. My output configuration contains a command which gives multiple lines. The calculation of the width of the conky window seems to be done as if all the characters of this command output were on one line. Thus the window is way too wide. Version 1.7.1.1 doesn’t behave like this, so I switched back. Anyway great work!!

  2. Hi Viv,

Thanks for the comment! It would be helpful if you could provide more detail about your problem, perhaps a screenshot, as it’s probably that 1.7.2 will do what you want, but you may need some tweaks to your code. I recommend posting on a forum such as the Ubuntu Forums’ Conky Thread for more advice.

    Good luck!

  3. Hello again,

After not being able to resolv the problem on the Archlinux forum and the IRC, I filed a bug report with screenshot (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2850092&group_id=143975&atid=757308). For a quick fix I use maximum_width.

Anyway, still one of the most awesome programs I know of.

  4. Hi Viv,

Sorry you couldn’t quite resolve the problem, but I’m glad you found a workaround in the meantime :)
